A chilled evening with Villagers, some lovely Wylam brews and a late night shawarma
3 weeks have been since this gig and as I can’t remember what I did an hour ago, this review might be a little hazy!
We’d been eyeing up a Saturday Wylam gig for a fair while. An opportunity for some delicious beers and some quality music was beckoning. Villagers were the first gig to match our criteria. Sadly, Andrew couldn’t partake in the beers, but that meant a free taxi service for Ste & I. Bonus.
Food plans were a little scuppered as the venue was only serving their street food. This meant only 1 choice. A tasty but small curry which barely touched the sides. Even before the gig started, we were already planning some after gig food.
The support act was Leila Moss, from The Duke Spirit. The set was good, although I can’t really remember any details.
We honestly hadn’t had many pints! Hickey The Rake was the order of the day. A nice drop.
Villagers were really good. Loads of people on stage. The lead singer has a really distinct voice and style. The whole thing was a pretty chilled affair. Andrew noted it was just what he was needing. That and a kebab.
Gig ended. Setlist grabbed. Off to The Bake. A Lebanese restaurant in Byker which apparently stays open until 3am. A shawarma each and it was time to go home.
